As one of the District 2 Community Enhancement Corporation’s signature programs, the Fashion Institute of New Orleans (FINO) has provided local students with an eight -week intensive learning experience facilitated by industry professionals. FINO students participated in fieldtrips to Louisiana State University (Textiles, Apparel Design & Merchandising) and local boutique and gallery - Kunflama where students explored the creation of apparel though basic design technique and was introduced to the business side of owning a boutique. They worked closely with fashion industry experts in image consultation, fashion design and merchandising, modeling, make-up artistry, photography and videography.
State Senator Ann Duplessis, the District 2 Community Enhancement Corporation, Louisiana’s Retailers along with the Louisiana Department of Economic Development all believe FINO has brought a more “hands-on-minds-on” approach to fashion and is opening new doors for our students in the emerging fashion and retail industry.
“Passion for Fashion” fashion show will not only be a learning experience, but will also serve as a benefit for fashion design and merchandising scholarships for deserving students. For program or ticket information, please call (504) 244-0090.
