There is a new type of party going on in New Orleans and Tiffany Smith- Williams is to blame.

Smith- Williams, owner of “If the Shoe Fits Boutique” (www.iftheshoefitsboutique.com),
travels around the city and surrounding areas selling a variety of name brand shoes. The unique twist to her company is that she sells her shoes in a party style setting.

A shoe lover with an MBA, Smith- Williams decided to merge her education with her shoe fetish after she became frustrated with the job market. She considered opening a store, but through research found that it would be too expensive to open and maintain. After a brainstorming session, she came up with a way to reach a large customer base, provide shoes to buyers instantly and the added bonus of fun: a shoe party!

shoe-party-set-up.jpgSmith now provides planned shoe parties for residents who are willing to open their homes and share their friends and family who love to shop for shoes. The party package includes a variety of shoes on sale at affordable prices, a personal e-vite that Smith sends out to the guest and price discounts and free shoes to the host.

So far Smith-Williams idea has proven successful with parties booked months in advance.

Take a closer look at Smith-Williams who “purposed” her passion of shoe fashion.

Why shoes?

I believe that shoes tell a story about the person wearing them. They can also say something about your mood. I came from a long line of shoe enthusiast and it has always been my dream to own a shoe boutique.

How did the shoe party spin come along?

I have an MBA in Business Management and Marketing but could not seem to feel a comfort level in the current job market. Something was missing in my professional life. One day, I read this quote “Find something you love to do and you’ll never work a day in your life.” That was my beginning.

How does the shoe party work?

After contacting me, a date is scheduled. On the day of the event, the hostess can relax and let us turn her home, office, or party space into a “Shoe Boutique”. We arrive with about 200 pairs of shoes that have been carefully hand selected from the latest styles. The guests are welcomed to try on their selections. The best part is that they can make purchases and bring them home the same day.

What brands of shoes are available?

Most shoes are one of a kind with a wide range of designer brands like Stuart Weitzman, Donald Pliner, Cole Haan, Kenneth Cole, Coach, Bandalino, Nine West, Calvin Klein, Beverly Feldman, BCBGirls, Clarks, Via Spiga, J, Renee, J. Vincent, Michael Kors, Nina, Naturalizer, Vince Camuto, Steve Madden, Jessica Simpson, Borns, Easy Spirit…and many more.

Are there any other components to your company besides shoe parties?

Yes, I also have clients who request my services as a personal wardrobe consultant especially for shoes. Some parties have been “themed” for brides, sweet 16’s, graduations, Valentine’s Day, and corporate events.

Where do you see your business at in 2 years?

A brick and mortar storefront is my ultimate goal but I don’t have a date for that yet. Until then, being blessed with a busy calendar of events is what I pray for.

What are some summer shoe trends you advise fashionistas to look out for?

Don’t be afraid of bold colors and patterns. Yellows and greens are very popular. Also metallics, patents, and animal prints aren’t going anywhere. Embellishments like chains and jewels are also hot.

What have you enjoyed most about selling shoes “party-style?”

Some parties are an outlet for women to relax, have fun, and shop in a comfortable setting. I never tire of seeing the expression on a woman’s face when she finds a pair of shoes that she loves. Sometimes the party turns into a fashion show…..runway style! When they start to strut in their new shoes, it reminds me of Carrie Bradshaw (Sex in the City) when she spotted a new pair of Manolos in a store window and said, “Hello Lova!”

We all know Carrie from Sex in the City loves Manolos, what is your favorite brand of shoes?

I believe in a women’s right to choose…..Jimmy Choos that is!!!
